After Loyola
After graduation from Loyola University Chicago, I hope to attend medical school. I am not concerned about where in the United States I go for medical school, and so I am considering a wide selection. However, due its dedication to social justice and service to the community, I am especially interested in Loyola’s Stritch School of Medicine. Currently, I am studying for the MCAT and working through drafting my personal statement. This summer, I will be taking the MCAT and submitting my applications to medical schools. It is unbelievable how fast this time has gone by! I feel like just yesterday I was writing an Honors 101 paper, or sitting in UNIV lecture. However, due to all of the skills Loyola has helped me develop, I feel prepared for the challenge of applying to medical school. Hopefully, I will be accepted into a program, and will be in for another life-changing four years. If I am not accepted into a medical school program, I intend to apply to a pathology assistant program. Regardless, I plan on continuing to serve my community. I hope to stay involved in soup kitchens, or other support programs for the homeless such as Back on My Feet Chicago. Ideally, I will also maintain my EMT licensure by continuing to work shifts even when in medical or pathology assistant school. At this major transition point in my life, the future seems so uncertain and more than a little intimidating. However, with the help of all of Loyola’s wonderful resources, I am sure I will make it to graduation with a plan of action already in place.
